The Collegiate Sports Sustainability Summit is headed to the Sunshine State!

The University of Florida will be hosting the sixth edition of the Collegiate Sports Sustainability Summit June 5-7, 2017.

The University of Florida provides an ideal environment for participants to share ideas, experiences and best practices from their campus’ operations pertaining to sports and sustainability. University of Florida will showcase how the university integrates sustainable initiatives in athletics and the progress that has been made over the past few years.

This Summit offers attendees the chance to network, learn, and exchange ideas with peers from around the country on ways in which athletic and sports programs can join the campus movement to engage students, fans, and alumni in making collegiate sports socially, economically, and environmentally responsible.

The summit is designed to bring sustainability-minded campus leaders together to discuss, share, and promote ways to best advocate for this important initiative. The summit offers engaging speakers, collaborative round table discussions, and breakout sessions that allow participants to dive deeper into topics regarding sustainability.

Previous CS3 Conferences:

2015: The fifth annual summit hosted by the Purdue University.

2014: The fourth annual summit hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder. The Summit attracted over 120 attendees from over 50 colleges and universities. Featured speakers included: Rick George, Athletic Director, University of Colorado Boulder; Thomas McGann, Associate Athletic Director, University of Colorado Boulder; Halli Bovia, Sustainability Director, University of Southern California; and, Janis Steele, Associate Director for Facilities, Campus Recreation & Wellness, East Carolina University.

2013: The third annual summit, hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Summit attracted over 100 attendees from over 45 different colleges and universities. Featured speakers from 2013 included: Gene Smith, Athletic Director, The Ohio State University; Tim Hickman, Associate Athletic Director, University of Missouri; Mick Deluca, Director of Campus Recreation, University of California Los Angeles; Stephanie Sims, Implementation Coordinator, University of Florida.

2012: The 2012 Summit attracted representatives from over 20 colleges and universities. Some featured speakers from 2012 included: Fabian DeGarbo, Sustainability Director, ESPN; Jeff Steele, Associate Athletic Director, Auburn University; and, Corey Hawkey, Sustainability Coordinator, The Ohio State University.

2011: The inaugural, Southeast-focused summit laid the foundation for a nation-wide discussion on collegiate athletic sustainability initiatives.
